A new initiative by NYSAC, the Women's Leadership Council is the first statewide program in New York State focused specifically on providing support to women in county government. Launch of the Women's Leadership Council coincides with the 100th anniversary of New York State signing women's suffrage into law.
"I am so pleased that NYSAC has decided to make this commitment to supporting women in local government," Robertson said. "I look forward to contributing on the Council's Executive Committee, to help NYSAC develop this new focus on women running and serving."
Beginning with its Fall Conference and from then on, NYSAC has committed to sponsoring workshops and speakers on the topic of women in local government.
The Council will be chaired by NYSAC President-Elect and Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell. "I'm honored to chair the launch of this important initiative, and to work with my colleagues in county office to provide resources to women in elected county positions," Odell said. "I look forward to celebrating the launch of the Women's Leadership Council as I begin my NYSAC presidency this fall.
