Glens Falls NY - United Way of Tompkins County presented at the United Way of New York State's Annual Summer Conference on local young professionals group Tompkins Connect.

UWTC Communication and Engagement Manager, Regan Ralston presented at a panel titled 'Building Affinity Groups That Galvanize Communities', which revolved around the development and functions of engaged local groups gathered for a common issue area or mission. The other panelists compared techniques and strategies used to create and run groups for emerging professionals.

The annual conference provides a tailored training opportunity for United Way staff members from all around New York State to develop skills, talents and ideas to bring back to their communities.

The conference boasted keynote speaker Mary Sellers, U.S. President of United Way Worldwide on the future of United Way network and Matt Episcopo, Speaker, Author, Coach on Networking for Leaders. The panelists agreed that engaging the millennial generation was a top priority.

Episcopo stated, "It is an honor to bring together professionals from United Ways all around New York State to share their best ideas, problem solve their challenges together and learn innovative practices. Whether the information is shared among United Way professionals, or learned from external presenters, it helps our network become stronger together, in order to best serve our communities."
