The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG) has awarded $3,980 in four grants to Ithaca City School District (ICSD) programs that will reach over 1,150 students (see below for list). Grant funds are made possible through FABG performance booklet ad sales and individual donations. The boosters produce performance booklet programs for middle and high school concerts and plays, totaling over 35 events each year.
Fine Arts Booster Group grants were awarded for district-wide and special projects. Vanessa Wagner, FABG Treasurer, noted, "The Fine Arts Booster Group helps leverage and expand community connections in partnership with the Ithaca City School District."
Spring 2019 Special Grants:
Dallas Brass, Ithaca City School District
Funds will go towards a visit by guest musicians, the Dallas Brass, who will perform for district students and later join the Ithaca Concert Band in a public concert at Ford Hall, Ithaca College. This project is coordinated by teacher and conductor Michael Allen. Students served: 500
Harpsichord Project, Ithaca High School Music
A harpsichord making project led by student Owen Cummings, this instrument will be used by the Ithaca High School Music Department. Students served: 300
Sound Shells, Ithaca High School Band
Sound shells for use in the band. Students served: 150 Ithaca High School Musical and Underclassman Award Support for the musical and student award, made possible through a special grant from the Community Foundation of Tompkins County's Strebel Fund for Community Enrichment Students served: 200
