A new permanent Superintendent was appointed by the Lansing School Board in tonight's meeting (10/04) in the High School library. The appointment of Dr. Mark S. Lewis was approved 6-1 in a special meeting convened with the sole agend item of voting on the appointment. Board member Christine Iacobucci dissented, saying that her disagreement was no surprise to the Board or the candidate.
Board President Bonita Lindberg thanked all the stakeholders including Dr. Ellen O'Donnell, the members of the board, teachers, administrators, staff, community and students who volunteered their time to be a part of the interview process. In a prepared statement she said, "The Board is very excited about the skills and experience that Dr. Lewis is bringing to Lansing and is confident that the entire community will support him."
Dr. Lewis has nearly 30 years of experience in education. He is currently the Superintendent of the Brewster school district. Pending the drawing of a contract, he will begin on or before January 6.
