Girl Scouts from Brownie/Junior Troop 56 and Junior Troop 125 gathered at Camp Comstock on the west shore of Cayuga Lake across from the Cayuga Nature Center on Friday, September 30th, 2005.

Everyone congregated around a campfire to make s’mores and banana boats. The girls all joined their voices in song under a beautiful starlit sky.

32 scouts spent the night in lovely village unit accommodations. Troop 56 stayed in the Susan B. Anthony unit, while Troop 125 stayed in the Harriet Tubman unit.

Troop 56 had many first time campers and congratulate scouts that mustered the courage to spend the night, for many of them it was the first time away from home.

On Saturday, October 1st, all the scouts gathered to celebrate fall at the 2nd Annual Harvest Festival at Camp Comstock. Everyone had a terrific time pressing cider, eating doughnuts off strings with no hands, painting pumpkins, making and eating candied apples, making seed art, candles, scarecrows and stringing Indian corn necklaces.

At the peak 37 scouts from Lansing enjoyed  the picture perfect fall day on the shores of Cayuga Lake.

Thanks go to the Lansing Fire Department for a generous award for having the “most in line” at last May’s Memorial Day parade. This award paid for the girls' accommodations!
Mrs. Marilyn Willkens has graciously agreed to lead the newest and youngest Girl Scout Troop, Daisy Girl Scout Troop 121. This group of kindergarteners is already off to a terrific start.

The Lansing girls hope that everyone in Lansing will support the Girl Scout Cookie Sale. This year they will offer 5 varieties that are trans fat free.  Neighborhood girl scouts will begin taking orders on October 14th. Most  troops will also be hosting cookie booths throughout Lansing and Ithaca in November. Check the Lansing Star events calendar for further details and locations.
