ImageSheer determination and the will to give back to those less fortunate kept Justin Wright and Desmond Roeback outside in the cold for approximately 60 hours, collecting food in a 24 foot U-Haul truck in Wegman's parking lot.

By about 4 p.m. last Wednesday, these Z95.5 FM Finger Lakes Radio personalities had collected about 6000 pounds of food for the Tompkins County American Red Cross Homeless Services Food Pantry. This amount of food will support approximately160 households consisting of a total of 100 children, 190 adults and 25 seniors with three meals per day for five to seven days, totaling about 5100 meals.

He camped out for approximately 60 hours in freezing temperatures - until his 24-ft. U-Haul truck was filled with 6000 lbs of food which the radio station donated to the TC Red Cross Food Pantry.

It took about an hour and about seven people to unload all the bags and boxes of non-perishable food and load it into the pantry. Thanks to Z95.5 and the generosity of Wegman's and the Tompkins County community, the Food Pantry is now well stocked and ready to meet the demands of the holiday season. Thank you one and all.

The Pantry is located downstairs at the Tompkins Country Red Cross Homeless Shelter at 717 West Court Street in Downtown Ithaca. Food baskets contain enough food for each member of a family to eat three meals a day for five to seven days.
