Grainful announced the launch of the worldʼs first dinner entrées to extend the oat category beyond breakfast at the 2013 Natural Products Expo East in Baltimore, MD. The debut suite of frozen dinner entrées features four globally- inspired flavors, including Unstuffed Pepper, Andouille Sausage & Oats, Vegetarian Chili, and Porcini Mushroom Chicken. Each chef-crafted entrée is made with 100% whole grain steel cut oats, lovingly prepared in individual kettle batches with a mouthwatering blend of all natural ingredients.
Grainful President Jan Pajerski said, “We believe in great food and we want to change the way people think about oats. Itʼs very exciting to do something that hasnʼt been done in the market before – transform the humble oat from breakfast staple to energy-packed entrée and give consumers more great tasting healthy food options.”
Based in Ithaca, New York, Grainfulʼs culinary team is led by Jeannine Sacco, a Culinary Institute of America trained chef and Grainfulʼs CFO (thatʼs Chief Food Officer, in case you were wondering).
“Steel cut oats are one of the most underutilized grains, and yet theyʼre extremely versatile and healthy. When cooked correctly, they have a fabulous risotto-like consistency that is delicious and creamy with a lot of texture. From a chefʼs perspective, steel cut oats are the perfect meal foundation – hearty, wholesome and a blank canvas for bold flavors. So why limit them to breakfast? At Grainful, we saw huge potential to develop savory recipes featuring steel cut oats for lunch and dinner,” said Chef Sacco.
