ImageA select group of theatre patrons will be given the opportunity to experience the State  Theatre like never before while enjoying a unique package of “members only” privileges.  Audience members may choose to become a part of the “Leo”, “Ursa” and “Orion” membership packages, with each one offering exclusive benefits.   There is also a basic “Star” package available which includes discounts on all State Theatre presented shows (such as all performances in the Family, Comedy and Classics series) and advance notice of all concerts and events.

“This new membership program offers a unique way for our patrons to show their support for Ithaca’s legendary State Theatre while getting something in return," says Executive Director Doug Levine.  "One of the most common requests we receive from our patrons is an opportunity to buy preferred seats prior to the general public. ”

Those who opt for a “Leo” membership may also purchase tickets before they are available to the general public and receive select discounted tickets; but this package will only be made available to 50 theatre patrons.  A limited 20 patrons may become “Ursa” members; receiving preferential seating, discounts on all tickets, complimentary mailing service on all ticket orders, invitations to special events at the State, two free tickets for all shows in the Family Series, and complimentary posters.

For those that are extremely passionate about the State Theatre, 10 “Orion” memberships will be made available.  This premium-level package includes all “Ursa” benefits plus the opportunity to purchase preferred seating before all other members, higher discounts on tickets, complimentary beverages, 4 complimentary tickets to all shows in the Family Series, signed posters and an opportunity to meet select talent appearing at The State Theatre!

The names of the different tiers of membership stem from the unique “constellations” that have been part of the ceiling of the State Theatre since the day it opened back in 1928.  State Theatre of Ithaca, Inc. has been very active with building improvements and renovations since they took over ownership of the theatre during the winter of 2009.  Last summer, all of the tiny light bulbs used to make the ceiling “twinkle” were serviced, so once again the “stars” can come out at night.

"After studying similar venues around the northeast, we found that limiting membership allows for better implementation of the specific benefits at each level," says State Theatre’s Marketing Committee Chair Susie Monagan.  "There is no limit to the “Star” level, but keeping the other levels exclusive allows for better service to our patrons.  We are excited to thank our most loyal patrons and offer them this new opportunity to support our unique community resource."

Levine adds, “These additional financial resources will allow The State Theatre to remain this community’s center for performing arts activity. This is a great opportunity to join us!”
