The Rotary Club of Ithaca introduced seven new members who joined the service club during the last quarter. These community members bring professional experience from both the business sector and the non-profit sector; many volunteer in Tompkins County. Ithaca Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self.” Membership is open to all community members who share in this belief; new members are accepted year-round.

"Our members come from all walks of life and have a wide variety of interests to match those of Rotary. As members of Ithaca Rotary, individuals give of their time and skills to positively impact the needs of our community."

Shannon Albanese – Shannon lived in Ithaca as a child, then moved with her family to San Diego. After attending Mesa Junior College there, she returned to Ithaca in 1980, working in interior design. She now works in financial consulting for Tompkins Trust Company and serves on the board of the Women's Community Center. Shannon is a registered investment advisor with a Series 7 and Series 63 license. She lives in Trumansburg with her son.
Carl Carvill – Major Carl is the new commanding officer of the Salvation Army in Ithaca, and has already dedicated himself to a life of service. Originally from Lewiston, Maine, Carl acquired his bachelor’s degree in music and a master’s in theological studies. He is currently completing his doctoral dissertation. He and his wife have three grown children, and have served the Salvation Army in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Hampshire, New York City, and now are happily in Ithaca.
Grace Dalton – Grace is currently the branch manager of the HSBC office on North Triphammer Road. She has been with HSBC for ten years, starting as a part-time teller. Grace is originally from Elmira, and attended Elmira College after getting her associates degree from Corning Community College. She enjoys writing poetry and short stories, and lives in Elmira Heights with her fiancé and two children.
Eric Harrington – Eric is the director of occupational and environmental health for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell.  In that role, he addresses the workplace health and safety needs of faculty, staff and students; and also environmental stewardship of college farms and greenhouses. Eric lives in Groton, where he was raised, with his wife and son. He is chair of the Groton Education Fund, a steering committee member for the Cortland YMCA, a den leader for Groton Webelo Scouts, and serves on several Boy Scout committees.
Richard Hendrick – Richard is a financial consultant, providing years of experience and tools to increase profits and cash flow. He has prior experience as controller and treasurer for a publicly listed international manufacturer and as a CPA and management consultant. He earned his bachelor’s from Dickinson College and completed his MBA work at Temple University and the University of Houston. He is a business coach at Alternatives Federal Credit Union and the Cornell Business Startup Boot Camp.
Randy Reed – Randy is currently counsel to Miller Mayer LLP, where he concentrates in the practice of intellectual property law, patents, trademarks, copyrights and unfair competition. He is a registered patent attorney and is admitted to the practice of law in both New York and California. A native of Norwich, NY, Randy and his wife Peggy moved here from California in 2004 when Randy became in-house counsel to Transonic Systems. Prior to California, they lived in Rouses Point, NY, where Randy was a member of the Plattsburgh AM Rotary Club.
Paul Tatar – Originally from Rhinebeck, NY, Paul received his undergraduate teaching degree from SUNY-Brockport and his graduate degree from Ithaca College. He is a retired elementary school teacher in the Ithaca School District, and former instructor of physical education at Cornell. Paul is also a charter fishing guide and captain, sits on the Strategic Tourism Planning Board for the Tompkins County Legislature, and volunteers at the Ithaca Convention and Visitors Bureau.

New Rotary members are invited to serve on projects and committees that are beneficial to Ithaca and the global community. Activities range from a few hours to longer time commitments. New members meet fellow Rotarians at weekly luncheon meetings held at the Holiday Inn downtown beginning at Noon every Wednesday.
