cmc_fosterDr. Cora Lee FosterCayuga Medical Center has named Dr. Cora Lee Foster as medical director for its new Cayuga Center for Wound Healing scheduled to open in September at 101 Dates Drive in Ithaca.

The Cayuga Center for Wound Healing will specialize in the treatment of chronic wounds and non-responsive conditions and will offer hospital-based outpatient wound care as well as disease management and diabetes care.  Cayuga Medical Center is a client hospital of National Healing Corporation which assists hospitals across the country in establishing quality wound healing programs.

Foster, who previously served as Chair of the Department of Surgery at Cayuga Medical Center, will be responsible for reviewing patient care and results, evaluating new clinical products and providing oversight and guidance on policies and procedures.

An Ithaca resident, Foster is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, American Medical Association, and American Association of Endocrine Surgeons.

Foster received her medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and has a Master of Arts from Stanford University.  She also completed her Surgical Residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.

The Cayuga Center for Wound Healing will offer highly specialized treatments including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic dressings and growth factor therapies.
