tops120Williamsville, N.Y. – Tops Friendly Markets, a leading full-service grocery retailer in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, today stated that to help with relief efforts for those affected by severe flooding in the Southern Tier of NY, Tops has made a product donation valued at $7,000 to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.

Tops Markets donated hundreds of cases of non-perishable product to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, including peanut butter, tuna fish, cereal, electrolyte drinks, and canned soup.

“We are glad that we can provide our neighbors with assistance especially at this time when they need it the most,” said Kathleen Graim, community relations specialist for Tops Markets.  “We asked the Food Bank what products they were in short supply of to ensure we were addressing the specific needs of our community.”

Of the six counties that The Food Bank of the Southern Tier serves, Broome, Chemung and Tioga counties were severely impacted.  Tops’ Owego store located at 1145 RT 17-c in Tioga County has been closed temporarily due to flood-related damage.  All Tops associates are safe and Tops is currently in the process of assessing the weather-related damage at that location.  All other Tops locations are open for business.

Tops Markets is a long-standing supporter of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
