Kitchen Theatre Company's alternative series, KITCHEN COUNTER CULTURE begins this Thursday with Black Stuff. Written and performed by L.A.-based artists LeVan D. Hawkins and Alexander Thomas, Black Stuff is a wildly entertaining study of the African-American experience from the inside out. This uncensored, provocative and comic performance piece will run for only eight performances.

The style is fast-paced, smart and comic with a fearless, frank and bold approach reminiscent of Dave Chappelle and the Wayans Brothers. These seasoned artists employ wit and humor to examine how race has impacted their lives and ask audiences to face very real issues and "isms". Hawkins and Thomas are sure to cause laughs and gasps.

WHAT THE CRITICS SAY...

"The impressive collaboration spares no sensitivities in its caustic satirical study of the African-American experience from the inside out." - LA Times

"LeVan D. Hawkins and Alexander Thomas are two mean performers, making a special kind of music in their two-man sociological laugh riot...If you fear sociology and comedy don't belong together, try checking these two out...Both artists are splendid despite its irreverence; this is a piece to be experienced." - Park Labrea News/Beverly Press
