ImageThe Aurora Free Library’s Family Arts Series will kick-off its season with Khac Chi’s program “Sounds of Vietnam” at the Aurora Free Library on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 11 am. This free event is sponsored by the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program and Mandel Therapy Group.

Khac Chi are incredibly talented musicians from Vietnam that have won the hearts of audiences in 24 countries around the world. Khac Chi’s program is a fascinating and exciting journey through music and dance featuring over a dozen rare and unique bamboo instruments native to Vietnam. These virtuoso artists offer an intriguing glimpse into the rich musical tradition of Vietnam and its 4,000-year history.

The award-winning duo is known for its lively stage shows and its performances have been presented to thousands of schools throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.

Their rare and unique bamboo musical instruments include the haunting melodies of the Dan Bau, a one-string zither from northern Vietnam, and the Koni which has a resonation chamber in a player's mouth. Khac Chi Music takes you on an adventure in sound. Their concert performances are a rare insight into the wealth and sophistication of Vietnamese culture.

The Aurora Free Library is located at 370 Main Street in the village of Aurora on the corner of Route 90 and Cherry Avenue.
