ImageIf I start by saying this is a heartwarming story of love and redemption you might stop reading.  That would be a shame, because Pixar hit another one out of the park with what I would say is their best movie yet.  78-year-old Carl Fredricksen wants to fulfill his lifelong dream of seeing South America.  He ties thousands of balloons to his house and begins the journey.  He soon finds a stowaway, Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

Carl is stuck with Russell, a precocious eight year oldwho thought helping the elderly meant guiding them across the street, not flying a house to another continent.  Along the way they meet a rare bird that Russell names Kevin, and a talking dog named Dug.  Casting Edward Asner as the lovably curmudgeony Carl was a predictable stroke of genius, while Bob Peterson is brilliant as Dug.  Peterson and co-script writer Pete Docter got the talking dogs so right that you'll herar their voices in your head after you go home and watch your own dog.

There is plenty of adventure and action in this brilliantly animated film, believable characters, and -- well yes, it is a heartwarming story of love and redemption.
