hangar2011_120The surprising and hilarious search for a place to call home is at the heart of Ever So Humble, a new comedy by Tim Pinckney (Message to Michael) receiving its world premiere at the Hangar Theatre under the direction of Artistic Director Peter Flynn.  The cast of seven features Andréa Burns (In the Heights), Philip Hoffman (Falsettos, Into the Woods) and Eric T. Miller (LAByrinth Theatre’s Sweet Storm). Poignant, smart, sassy, Ever So Humble is a touching reminder that our home and our family are what we make them.  Performances begin July 14th, running through July 23rd.

An expired New York City sublet leaves Nick and his two best friends, Bobby and Dana, with no place to live.  Enter Howard - a loveable, but lonely man with his own personal troubles as well as a beautiful house in Brooklyn.  Friendship blossoms between this unlikely quartet and complications quickly arise, as Howard's house becomes the source of a sticky dilemma between his assumed heirs and his new friends.

Inspired by E.M. Forster's novel Howards End, Ever So Humble was workshopped at the Hangar as well as Rattlestick Playwrights theatre and further developed in the Ensemble Studio Theatre’s playwright’s unit.  The play is the product of a happy collaboration between long time friends Pinckney and Flynn. The cast also includes Greg Bostwick, Jesse Bush, Karl Gregory and Erica Steinhagen.

"Tim Pinckney has penned a whip smart, charming play that resonates with anyone who has created a family with those they love. The cast is a great combination of some of Broadway's brightest and Ithaca's celebrated favorites. With its hilarious characters & enormous heart, Ever So Humble reminds us all there really is no place like home." states Director Peter Flynn.  Playwright Pinckney adds, “I am so happy and proud to premiere Ever So Humble at the Hangar.  They have given us a wonderful home as well as an extraordinary cast and creative team.  I’m living a playwright’s dream.”
