ccoToni Murdough, President of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra Board of Directors, announced that Lanfranco Marcelletti signed a new three year contract with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra (CCO).  Marcelletti was the winning candidate in 2008, after a year long and highly competitive international conductor search. He stood at the CCO podium for the first time in the fall of 2008.

For the past three years, Marcelletti has worked successfully with the Board and with the administrative staff to achieve a larger community presence, increase season tickets, provide creative programming and major collaborations with other arts organizations, and to maintain the high quality musical integrity that the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra is known for.

"This group is a hidden treasure, and I have many hopes for our future together", Marcelletti stated.

Marcelletti also worked to bring about a recording project for the orchestra, performing works by composer, Charles Bestor.  The recording will be unveiled at the CCO's second orchestral concert of their upcoming 35th Anniversary Season on October 29, 2011.

Murdough stated, "We are thrilled that Lanfranco will continue to be the CCO Music Director.  His energy and enthusiasm is contagious, and his commitment to Ithaca's orchestra continues to inspire us.  We are looking forward to the upcoming special anniversary season. We have so much to celebrate!"

The Cayuga Chamber Orchestra opens their 35th Anniversary Season on Saturday, September 24, 2011, with Marcelletti conducting works by Handel/Mozart, and Mendelssohn. The concert will feature UNYC, directed and founded by Janet Galvan.  Well-known Israeli cellist, Amit Peled, will also perform Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1.
