wellsAurora, New York—Wells College presents a special senior thesis recital “Music with a Woman’s Touch,” coordinated by and featuring the singing talents of Marie Angus ’12 with piano accompaniment by Lecturer in Music Russell Posegate. The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m. March 30 in the auditorium of Barler Hall on the Wells College campus. This event is free and the public is invited to attend.

Marie will sing a series of songs that showcase the role of women in music history as her performing arts senior thesis performance. “I chose to make women in music my theme because as a woman I feel that our sex has come a long way in music history,” said Marie. “It has been a long journey for women in music, and since March is also Women's History Month, I thought it would be the proper way to pay tribute to all the female musicians before me.”

The songs she chose include works written by women librettists, women composers ranging from Clara Schumann to Adele Adkins and some well-known female characters from opera and Broadway musicals. She also will be joined by fellow student musicians Sander Moolin ’11, Peter Quinn-Jacobs ’12, Mary Losurdo ’14 and Emily Mulkerne ’12.
