Click Here). Currently seven artists are showing their work. The site features short bios, five images and links to the artists' professional websites.
Featured are Lansing local Danielle Cook Gerritsen, a 2000 LHS grad who is a wedding, events and portrait photographer. James Wolf Strehle, 2002 LHS grad, is an internationally known artist working in the entertainment industry as a concept artist/Illustrator. He currently lives in Seattle WA and works for Volta Creations where he has the opportunity to produce artwork for some of the largest games in the industry. Chris Mallinson, 2005, Claire Eckstrom, 2007 and James McDonough, 2008 all are graphic designers who work in advertising, magazine, web and print design. Two former students Lydia Shea, 2011 and Mau Streb, 2011, are in college now pursing careers in the visual arts.
The gallery began as a way for high school art teacher Patty Brown to reconnect with Lansing art grads before she retires.
"As the idea grew into a digital website, we believe this gallery, this network has many possibilities," she says. "It is a wonderful resource for local Lansing businesses to hire "our own" for their art and design needs. We think about where we buy our food - why not buy local and support our Lansing grads in other career areas as well. Current Lansing students can see the many ways that fellow art students have made it in the art world. It is possible now more than ever for to earn a good living and build a career in the visual arts. This digital gallery provides a way for Lansing art grads to find and connect with each other, market thier skills and make connections back in their home community."
Jessica Stratton, new to Lansing High School this year, has assembled the web site. She will continue to keep up the web site. All Lansing art grads are encouraged to participate.
