Broadway favorite Tom Hewitt (Jesus Christ Superstar, The Rocky Horror Show, Chicago) will join the already star studded cast of Titanic, which opened at the Hangar Theatre on Friday, July 13th.   The Tony nominated Hewitt steps in for previously announced Robert Cuccioli in the role of Thomas Andrews. Cuccioli will be leaving the production to join the Broadway company of Spiderman: Turn off the Dark.

Hewitt, recently profiled in a New York Times feature, just completed a run in the Tony nominated Broadway revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, Hewitt immediately began rehearsals with the Hangar Titanic company and opened the show Friday night.

"This is a perfect example of what makes our business so exciting.   Of course we are thrilled for Bob (Cuccioli) and his new job in Broadway's Spiderman. Fortunately we were able to secure the wonderful Tom Hewitt, one of the most respected and sought after actors on Broadway", said Peter Flynn, Artistic Director of The Hangar. "In the true spirit of generosity that is so much a part of our success at the Hangar, Bob stayed to help put Tom in the show. Everyone is working to make this production something truly special and unforgettable. I promise you that Hangar audiences are in for a great night of theatre."

Winner of five 1997 Tony awards - including Best Musical - the Hangar's Titanic will feature members of the original Broadway company in a striking new production that will play July 13th - July 28th.

With a Tony-winning book by Peter Stone, Titanic is based on the true stories of the officers, crew, and passengers onboard surrounding that ill-fated night. The music and lyrics are by Maury Yeston (Nine), who won a Tony Award for this glorious score. Directed by original cast member Don Stephenson, musical direction is by Ian Weinberger and choreographed by Liza Gennaro.

Titanic's cast includes original Broadway cast members Alma Cuervo, Drew McVety and William Youmans as well as Philip Hoffman (From last season's Ever So Humble), and Christianne Tisdale (Beauty and the Beast).

The rest of the cast includes Will Boyajian, Sarah Charles, Xander Chauncey, Katie Drinkard, Jeremy Ellisonn Gladstone, Elizabeth Hake, Joneal Joplin, Greg Kamp, John Langley, Matt Madden, Christian Palmer, Noah Plomgren, Ariella Serur, and David Studwell.
