A life long Lansing resident Pete was born on August 7, 1942, to the late Harry G. & Hilda Marie (Beckwith) Barron. After graduating from Lansing High School in 1960, where he met his wife Judy Howell, they married November 7, 1964. Together they bought his father's farm on Jerry Smith Rd. where they created a family out of farming. Pete loved everyone and treated them like family. When he wasn't farming he found great joy in hunting, fishing, square dancing, making maple syrup, gator rides with the grandkids, visiting with people where he handed out lots of "candy kisses", carpentry, creating out of his many resources and witnessing. He served on several boards and clubs including the Lansing Lions after he retired from farming in 1987.
Pete was best known for being everyone's first boss, where you were taught important lessons to be a good shepherd; do something right the first time; grease it each time you use it; adjust the throttle; you can't use that until you read the manual; you never know when you'll need that; the things you want you make, the things you can't make you buy and the things you can't make or buy, you do without; don't forget to feed the pigs or they'll squeal on you and if you lose your gum in the chicken coop...don't pick it up.
In addition to his wife, Judy Howell Barron, Pete is survived by their children, Kathy Marie Barron of Groton, Karen (John) Huether of Lansing, Robin (Jeffrey) Cargian of Groton; grandchildren, John Paul "JP"and Charlotte Huether of Lansing and Samantha, Rachel and Emily Cargian of Groton; Brothers, Harry M. "Bucky" (Sally) Barron, James L. (Diane) Barron; sisters, Helen Grant, Harriet (Allen) Schreier, Lois (David) Decker and Carol (Jim) Boles; Sister-in-law, Nancy Milligan and Brother-in-law, Harold (Helen) Howell. Pete is also survived by a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Marie, Father and Mother-in-law, Harold "Shortie" and Charlotte Howell of Lansing, a brother, Robert G. Barron; a sister, Ruth Ford, and a brother-in-law, Robert Milligan.
