Last week I wrote that the nasty side of partisan politics is trickling down into local politics.  This was based on comments made to me over the past few months, escalating as the November election draws near, by a number of Lansing residents on all sides of the various issues our community is facing.  Since it was published Democrats and Republicans have chastised me, evidently thinking I was blaming their side (read it again -- I wasn't blaming either side).  I am gratified that the piece has gotten people thinking about the destructive impact extreme politics can have.  So instead of editorializing myself this week, I am very happy to be able to publish two guest editorials, one from a Republican, the other from a Democrat, both running for Town Board in November.
