mailmanI firmly believe that in Town and County elections we need to vote on the merits of the candidates, not on the basis of party affiliation. At the local level it is entirely possible to get to know the candidates, what they do and say, and whether they are actually qualified to do the job for which they seek election. In the upcoming election on November 5, the choice is clear: We need to re-elect Pat Pryor as our County Legislator; we need to re-elect Katrina Binkewicz as Town Councilperson, and we need to elect Gay Nicholson for Town Councilperson.

Lansing now has an incredibly productive, hard-working, fair-minded County Legislator in Pat Pryor. She very much deserves to be re-elected to continue her good work for all of us in Lansing. Pat not only represents Lansing on several County committees where she does a lot of work, she has led the very important Broadband Committee and its effort to get Internet services to areas of Lansing that have no cable. She also helped fund Broadband service with grant money; the installation of Internet services in un-served areas of Lansing has begun. Another area where Pat excels is in her regular, thorough communication about County matters to both the Town Board meetings and to any Lansing resident who wishes to be on her email list. Pat’s record of achievements is indeed impressive and we should re-elect her so she can continue to work for Lansing.

Katrina Binkewicz has 5 years of Town Board experience and she is especially noted for her ability to listen to and consider carefully all residents’ points of view. She solves problems creatively and does her homework about matters of concern to Lansing tax payers. She is a fiscal conservative and works for sensible town planning and preservation of farmland, as well as natural areas. Her work to promote park and trail development has helped expand healthy recreational opportunities for all of us. We need to re-elect Katrina to keep her balanced points of view on our Town Board.

Lansing has a real opportunity with Gay Nicholson as candidate for Town Board to elect a multi-talented community leader! Gay has decades of experience helping people to work together to solve problems and create locally-based economic opportunities. I have known Gay for over 40 years and I can attest to her abilities to put into action her plans for guiding Lansing’s future while protecting its land, water, and environment. She will work to further cooperation, long-term thinking, and flexibility in Town government. Like Katrina and Pat, Gay works hard – let’s put that ability to get things done to work for Lansing and elect Gay Nicholson to Town Board.
