It was wonderful to see a crowd of about 80 people in the Lansing Town Hall on Tuesday night to learn about the wonderful opportunity being offered by Solar Tompkins to participate in a group purchase of solar electric systems. Melissa Kemp, the project manager, gave an excellent presentation that provided a thorough review of all matters related to the process -- and all three installer companies were present to talk with attendees and answer questions.

Tuesday was the 5-year anniversary of when NYSEG connected my solar array to the grid.  I've been surprised by how few others I have seen in the Town of Lansing, especially as prices have plummeted in recent years.  The pricing example that Melissa gave was similar to the cost of my system, BUT it was for an array twice as large as mine!  That's an extraordinary drop in cost, given that the equipment is more advanced than mine.

I hope that the folks who came to the meeting will be enrolling in the Solar Tompkins program to get their site assessments, and that many more will take advantage of this unique opportunity.  Let's get Lansing on the path to a clean energy future!
