Appearing in court is a stressful and uncertain time for any of us. It is essential that members of our community have confidence that in their time of crisis they will be dealing with professionals who have deep knowledge of the law and the court system and who can ensure a fair process, equal treatment and just outcomes.
While none of us expect to find ourselves before the court, we should expect that the officials we meet there will have the experience necessary to deal with our circumstances whatever they may be. Voters have the ability to ensure that this will be the case by choosing the candidate with demonstrated qualifications, experience and commitment to the law. Learning the job on the job is not an acceptable option for Town Judge or the residents who rely on them.
Who among us would willingly choose to have their case be a part of that learning process? When making their choice, voters should consider which candidate offers our community the benefit of someone who can do the job we need, expect and deserve on day one. That choice is Maura Kennedy-Smith.
