Growing up in New England, I remember that every town enjoyed the presence of a library. Most of those libraries were in existence since before the Civil War. No one would ever think of closing one down! As young people, we spent many days each week working on homework and enjoying story hours at our town library.
I would feel very sorry to see the Lansing Library close as a result of a protest of a minority group who do not want the funding to come from tax payers. Who better to pay for a library that has proven such a success? The Lansing tax base, the fastest growing in the county, should continue to provide the small amount of funding this facility needs. Please vote No on May 19.
