I am writing in support of the Lansing Community Library.  I have worked as a volunteer at the circulation desk at the library for five years and have watched the library grow from a small operation that wasn't open many hours to a vibrant asset to the community. Everything has grown- the size of the collection, the patron list, and the use of the facility by various community groups-to the point that the operation became beyond the scope of volunteers.

Coincidentally, TCPL, in 2007, informed us that they could no longer support the Lansing Community Library Center as a reading room without charging the library and patrons for services. Once voted on the tax rolls and chartered, the Lansing Community Library received these services without charge. In addition, the Lansing Community Library now has a professional librarian who has re-energized the children's programs, as well as instituting changes that made the library much more user friendly.

Last, but not least, do Lansing voters want to be the first community in New York State to abolish their library? I think not, but it is important for supporters to get to the polls and vote NO!! Don't abolish the library!
