mailmanI am writing this letter in response to Jim Bencivenga's letter suggesting that school budget woe's can be aleviated by cutting teacher pay 10%, increasing insurance contributions, etc.

Having seen very few overpaid teachers I really question this approach. I have seen more school systems that are top heavy with administration being paid high salaries.

My suggestion would be to begin cutting admin before you begin cutting those actually teaching students. These teachers are also paying for classroom supplies, etc., out of their pay because schools can't afford them.

ALSO: The letter about "MANDATES" could also apply here. State Regents Committies should take into consideration the state of the schools and stop their costly march toward bankrupting them with their mandates.

There will be no quality of education with 60 student classes and few teachers.
