I need your help, please and you may be saving someone's life!!! We were visiting your community on Saturday & Sunday April 6 & 7 to watch our daughter's Cornell softball tournaments. While through most of our visit we came across very friendly helpful people; unfortunately, while parked at the Lansing Park, our jeep was broken into.
The person/ people stole my brown & black designer purse, with all the normal ID, keys to our home and for my Buick, credit cards, cash, restaurant gift cards for TGI Fridays and Red Lobster, receipts, make-up.... and MOST WORRISOME, FOR THE KIDS THAT TOOK IT: prescription medications/some THAT COULD BE FATAL IF NOT TAKEN PROPERLY...
Additionally they stole my brief case, which looked like a large grey flat style purse with a mock snake/ alligator texture. In the grey case was a brand new Microsoft Surface Tablet, with charcoal black combo cover/keyboard, a neoprene zipper case, power cords for 2 devices, paper work, jump drive, a 7 day pill case with vitamins and more of my prescription meds and MOST Worrisome FOR US; our daughter's tax return and W-2 forms!
We are 99% sure who took it. There were 3 teenage boys watching me with much too much interest; while I stood next to the car with my purse and wallet out and they heard me book a hotel room. I double checked that the purse & case were covered from site and vehicle was locked, before I walked away. The back door where they saw me, was scratched up from their prying and entry attempts and they touched NOTHING else. They missed the GPS, suitcase, bottles of wine.... and NO OTHER vehicles were broken into.
PLEASE, PLEASE If you find any of these items, in your home, the trash or hear talk of someone selling these.... please contact the Tompkins Co. Sheriff's office or me directly at the number below.
This is a very difficult financial burden as we are still catching up financially after 18 months of Chemo treatments and many medical bills that we are trying to pay off. I need that tablet for work but can not afford to buy a new again.
If the thieves try to experiment with the medications, IT COULD BE FATAL, so this request is not just in hopes of recovering the tax documents, computer, etc; as a parent I FEAR FOR THE KIDS THAT MAY TAKE THE MEDICATIONS.
Thank you to the editor for publishing this letter and thank you to you, the readers for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Susan Marino
