Ford continued her recent tear this week, averaging 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists as the Huskies got past East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, 63-51, and then rallied in the second half to win at division-leading West Chester, 88-80, on Saturday.
In Wednesday's victory, Ford displayed her versatility, handling the ball out front against Warriors pressure as well as playing in the post defensively while putting together a spectacular second half as the Huskies rallied from a halftime deficit. The junior guard scored 20 of her game-high 23 points during the second half including a stretch where she tallied 11 of the Huskies' 16 points as they grabbed a lead they would not relinquish. After ESU closed to 51-49 with 4:50 to play, she drained a 3-pointer to put Bloomsburg back up five, starting a 12-2 run to put the game away. She also tied a career high with nine assists and added five rebounds and two steals to her stat line.
On Saturday, Ford was again key to a Bloomsburg rally to victory. She registered 14 of her 17 points as the Huskies erased a double-digit deficit in the second period, ultimately also finishing with six rebounds, three assists and three steals on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor.
Over the past six games Ford is averaging 18.7 points, scoring double figures in in each contest. For the year she averages 11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals.
The Huskies stand at 13-3 overall on the year and are 4-2 in the PSAC East after winning six consecutive games. Bloomsburg received votes in last week's USA Today Sports Division II Top 25.
Bloomsburg returns home to host Mansfield this Wednesday night at Nelson Field House beginning at 5:30 p.m. as PSAC East play continues.
