ford120BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Bloomsburg University junior Jocelyn Ford (Lansing, NY/Lansing) has earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week honors after playing a key role in helping the Huskies clinch the PSAC East regular season title this week.

Ford posted a tremendous showing during last Wednesday's 66-58 win vs. West Chester in a victory that essentially clinched the No. 1 seed in the East for the Huskies as they leapfrogged WCU at the top of the division. The Lansing, N.Y. native packed the stat sheet by finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds, six assists and a block and also turned in crucial plays down the stretch. Her jumper in the paint as the shot clock expired gave the Huskies a 61-54 lead with 2:12 to play and was a key moment in BU holding off a Golden Rams rally attempt. She then put the game on ice with a pair of free throws with 10 seconds remaining.

jocelynford2014In a 63-55 win at Mansfield on Saturday to officially clinch the outright East title, Ford narrowly missed a double-double with a game-high 16 points along with nine rebounds as well as four assists and two steals. Again, she made clutch shots late as her two free throws with 43 seconds to play helped put the game away after Mansfield had closed to within six points. For the week she averaged 16.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists.

Ford has taken Athlete of the Week honors twice this season – she also captured the award for the week of Jan. 20.

Bloomsburg (22-3, 13-2 PSAC East) enters the week ranked No. 16 in Division II while riding a 15-game winning streak. The Huskies conclude their regular season schedule by welcoming Kutztown on Wednesday night for a 5:30 p.m. start time at Nelson Field House. Bloomsburg has earned a bye through the first round of the PSAC Tournament and will host a quarterfinal game against an opponent to be determined on Tuesday, March 4 at 7 p.m. inside Nelson Field House.
