xcountryThe runners of the IAC gathered on Saturday, October 29 at William Appleby Elementary School in Marathon for the conference championships.  The course remained muddy after a week of rain, but no precipitation fell on the day of competition, making for a great day of racing.

The boys of Watkins Glen continued their extremely strong season with wins in the combined JV and Varsity boys 5K race.  Scoring a perfect score of 15 in the JV race and very low score of 20 in varsity, the Watkins Glen Senecas' performance was reflective of their number 2 ranking in the state. Patrick Hazlitt was the overall boys winner with a time of 17:05.2 and also the recipient of the IAC Sportsmanship Award.

The team contest was more tightly contested in the girls race as Newark Valley secured the win with a score of 54 followed by Trumansburg (66) and then Lansing (69).  Trumansburg's Molly Macqueen was the repeat individual champion with a time of 20:31.0 and runner-up Julia Russell of Spencer Van Etten-Candor was the recipient of the IAC Sportsmanship Award.

In both varsity races, runners who placed in the top 14 were recognized as IAC All-Stars.  Results and All-Stars are listed below.

The conference also recognized a member of each varsity team with the IAC Brad Sanford Scholar Athlete Award which honors the runner who best exemplifies the true spirit of the student-athlete.  Lansing's recipient was senior Caroline Taylor.

This championship was host to the final modified invitational of the year.  Trumansburg won both the boys and girls modified races with the boys edging out Waverly 46-49 and the girls comfortably winning over Tioga, 21-64.
