ImageThe Lansing Varsity Football Team is off to a one and one start this season splitting two nail-biting contests.  Lansing lost its opener to Class B Dryden 23-20.  Trailing 17-7 at the half Lansing stormed back to take a 20-17 lead on touchdowns by Colden Knapp and Jake Whiting in the third quarter.  Dryden scored on a 45 yard touchdown run by Derek White with 4:11 remaining to end the scoring for the night.  Justin Payne scored Lansing's first touchdown of the game and the year on a beautiful  40 yard pass from T.J. Cretney.  Whiting led the Bobcats rushing attack with 92 yards on twenty carries.

In last Friday's contest versus Odessa-Montour the Bobcats rallied for a 15-12 win.  Odessa took an early 6-0 lead scoring on its opening drive.  Lansing countered with a field goal in the second quarter and then engineered a beautiful drive after getting the ball back with 41/2 minutes to go in the quarter when Colden Knapp scored a touchdown with 14 seconds to go giving Lansing a 9-6 lead at the half.

While the third quarter was scoreless Odessa regained the lead with 61/2 minutes to go when Josh Markley broke free around the end for a 30 yard touchdown making the score 12-9.  While this game felt eerily similar to last weeks contest against Dryden the Bobcats this time were able to change the outcome going on a 5 minute scoring drive to regain the lead on Colden Knapp's 6 yard touchdown run with 1:21 seconds to go.  The Bobcat defense held Odessa from scoring and took a knee to secure their first victory of the year.

Odessa pounded the ball at the Bobcat defense with four backs each carrying the ball 9 or more times in the contest totaling 46 rushes for 146 yards.  The Bobcats rushing attack was led by Knapp with 16 rushes for 81 yards (2TD's) and Jake Whiting who had 9 carries for 46 yards.  Quarterback T.J. Cretney was 5 of 7 passing for 57 yards.

The Bobcats will be at Oxford on Friday night at 7pm.
