After taking the first game by 99 pins the Lansing Girls worked their way back to come up short by only 70 pins the second game. But hard work paid off as our girls came back and won the last game by 9 pins. Now this may not sound like much, but Waverly’s Girls team only lost two points all of last year (to Lansing’s Girls). It’s the start of a long season and a point is a point, Lansing’s Kristi Sullivan 193-498 was high followed by Lauri Bush, Lori McKane and Brooke Burke. We have our next match Thursday at Watkins Glen.
On the boys side many of the personal are new. Five of the starting six are second year and one is a first year bowler. The Lansing boys struggled a bit, which very well might have been nerves more then anything as Waverly brings back many bowlers from their record breaking season of last year.
Marcus Beard of Waverly started out with a 256 and finished with a 699 series and was helped by fellow class mate AJ Satterly 256-578 as the Waverly Boys took all four points. Lansing had some bright spots as Tyler Mix as high with a 511 series followed by Harrison Herzog 200-503, then Mike Bradford and Matt Tucci.
The main thing in these matches was the communication and helping of our bowlers, as they helped each other out which was great. Off to Watkins Glen on Thursday as the season will be a work in progress as we are always working to find the right combination.
