The Lansing wrestling team enters it' s final two weeks of the 2008/2009 season with a degree of satisfaction,and optimism.The team placed forth last weekend at the Class"C" sectional meet. Corey Dake, Kyle Dake,and Jon Glennon, each won their repective weight classes, while Sean Eastman, and Ryan Todd placed 2nd. Joe Jimenez,and John Oblinski ended up placing 3rd. This was Kyle's 5th class "C" title in his 6 years of varsity wrestling.
Corey, Kyle and Jonny are were rewarded for their stellar seasons with # 1 seeds. Ryan Todd has been out for a majority of the season with a shoulder injury, but based on his last years finish,(3rd), and his 10-2 "09" record he was seeded 3rd. Hopefully, this parlays into at least 1 if not 4 section Champions, which in turn allows each individual to compete in the State Tournament on Feb. 27th and 28th.
Next up, The Section IV Overall Championships this Friday(20) and Saturday(21) at the Broome County Veterans Arena, wrestling preliminaries start on Fri. at 2:00pm,and Semi finals at 10:00 am Sat. Finals at 7:00 pm on Sat.
