The Lansing Varsity Indoor track team had a strong showing at the Section IV state qualifier meet held at Cornell University’s Barton Hall last Friday evening Feb. 27th.  Lansing will be represented by 7 student athletes at the State meet to be held this Saturday again at Cornell University’s Barton Hall.

Earning a trip states for individual performances where Anna Mapes finishing 2nd in the 600 Meter Run with a time of 1:38.83, Kathryn Hornibrook finishing 2nd in the 55 meter hurdles with a time off 9.09, Lindsay Petry finished 1st in pole vault with a height of 10’ 6”, Kathryn Hornibrook tying for 2nd in pole vault with a height of 8’, and Jeff Swayze finishing 1st in the shot put with a distance of 50’ 4”. 

Eddy Potter finished 3rd in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:41.47 and Josh Barber finished 3rd in the 1600 meter run with a PR time of 4:35.55 to earn them a spot on the section IV intra sectional relay team.

Earning a trip to states for a team performance was the 800 meter relay team of Chloe Ryan, Anna Mapes, Lindsay Petry, and Kathryn Hornibrook for their first place finish with a time of 1:48.85.

For the Lansing Girls other performances included Chloe Ryan finishing first in her 55 meter dash semi final heat with a time of 7.66 and 3rd in her final heat with a time of 7.62.  In the 1000 meter run Kathryn Shaw finished 6th with a time of 3:19.56 and Anna Bella Maginnis finished 11th with a time of 3:36.14.  In the 600 meter run Jenna Lamb finished 10th with a time of 1:52.18.  In the 1500 meter run Neila Thomas with a PR time of 6:22.99. 

In the 300 meter run Lydia Warkentin tied for 20th with a time of 50.32 and Shaye Weldon finished 23rd with a time of 50.56.  In the 1600 Meter relay the team of Jenna Lamb, Cassie Palladino, Kathryn Shaw, and Anna Mapes finished 2nd with a time of 4:15.96.  In the Shot pit Lydia Shea placed 23rd with a distance of 22’ 5”.  In the Long jump Chloe Ryan placed 4th with a distance of 15’ 11.75”.  In the high jump Niki Gain tied for 5th with a height of 4' 6" and placed 8th in the triple jump with a distance of 29’ 4.5”.  Also in the Triple Jump Lydia Warkentin place 12th with distance of 27’ 6.5”

For the Lansing boys other performances were; in the 3200 meter run John Cleveland placing 5th with a time of 10:19.12.  Jess Esposito finshed 4th in his 55 meter dash heat with a time of 7.31.  In the 1000 meter run Kendall Miller finished 23rd with a time 3:12.38.  In the 600 meter run Casey Byrne placed 20th with a time of 1:40.42 and Alex Rogers placed 21st with a time of 1:40.88.

In the 1600 meter run Nathan Muka placed 23rd 5:49.40.  In the 300 meter run Alex Jouandet finished 23 with 43.33 and Andrew Barber finished 29th with a time of 49.52.  In the 3200 meter relay the team of John Cleveland, TJ Cretney, Josh Barber, and Eddy Potter finished 3rd with a time of 8:44.20.  In the 800 meter relay team of Max Rogan, Jess Esposito, Luke Davis, Zach Dwyer, finished 15th with a time of 1:50.51 despite Luke Davis's spectacular fall and recovery after being cut off by another runner. 

In the 1600 meter relay the team of Zach Dwyer, Alex Rogers, Eddy Potter, and Josh Barber finished 7th with a time of 3:52.25.  In the pole value Luke Davis finished 4th with a height of 11’.  In the long jump Jess Esposito finished 17th with a distance of 16’ 8.5”.  In the triple jump Zach Dwyer tied for 8th with a distance of 38’ 10.5” and Max Rogan place 22nd with a distance of 28’ 4.75”.
