ImageTompkins Girls Hockey Association's three travel teams competed well against peers last weekend:  The 12U Shooting Stars advanced to the championship game of the Clifton Park tournament, and the 14U and 19U teams played their Central Sectional games.

Ithaca 19U Shooting Stars competed in the 19U Tier 2 Central Sectionals this  weekend facing peers Camillus Cougars and Mohawk Valley Herricanes.  They will advance to the NYSAHA 19U Tier 2 Tournament seeded as "Central 2" as they defeated Mohawk Valley, 7-4, but lost to host Camillus, 0-1. In the loss, Ithaca outshot Camillus 42-20.

They also outshot Mohawk Valley by the same margin but were able to get on the scoreboard seven times. Lauren Cole had a hat trick and one assist while Emily Eisenhut made three assists and scored one goal.  Single goals were scored by Colleen Dillon, Katie Long, and Krystalyn Yonkin. Other assists were awarded to Erin Grainger, Ali Pace, and Long.

The 19Us also defeated the Oswego 19U team this weekend, 3-0.  Sarah Eisenhut had a shutout stopping the 10 shots she saw. Emily Eisenhut scored the first goal assisted by Cole and Long.  Cole and Carrie Wilder also scored unassisted.

The 14Us needed to win at least one of their two Central Sectional games to advance to the state tournament. They were defeated by the Camillus Cougars 14Us, 1-4, on Saturday.  The one goal was scored by Grace Ulinski assisted by Marlena Doerr.  Alex Stagliano had 13 saves in goal.  On Sunday the matchup ended in a 1-1 tie. Rachel Brock scored assisted by Ulinski. Stagliano made 17 saves in this game.

At the Clifton Park tournament, Ithaca's 12U team defeated Clifton Park Eagles 2-1 and the Adirondack Northstars, 5-2, and lost 0-1 to the Vermont Shamrocks.  They faced the Shamrocks again in the championship game falling 1-2. Goals were scored by Madison Gneo (3), Paige Johnson (2), Julie Miettunen, Zoe Seznec Sweetland, and Anastasia Lyon. Assists were made by Maddy Kessy, Anna Kirkwood, Gneo, Johnson, and Sweetland, Caitlin Whittaker was in goal for all four games stopping 72 shots including 21 in the championship game.
