Last Saturday seven of Lansing student athletes participated in the NY State Championships held in Cornell University's Barton Hall. For the boys Juniors Josh Barber and Eddy Potter ran in the Distance medley relay as part of the Section IV intersectional relay team. This team was made up of the third place finishers at the state qualifiers in the 1600, 1000, 600, and 200 Meter events. The Section IV team finished 10th with an overall time of 9:36.08, and in the field events Senior Jeff Swayze place 11th in the shot put with a throw of 50' 1.5".

For the girls in the 600 meter run Senior Anna Mapes placed 17th with a time of 1:39.18. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Junior Chloe Ryan, Senior Anna Mapes, and Sophomores Lindsay Petry and Kathryn Hornibrook qualified in prelims with the 4th fastest time of 1:48.85 but unfortunately suffered a DQ in their finials heat. In the Pole Vault Sophomore Lindsay Petry placed 8th with a height of 10' 6" and Sophomore Kathryn Hornibrook unfortunately no heighted out in her first trip to states.

The indoor track team, coached by Matt Scheffler and Nate Lockette, gave their fans a spectacular year with many outstanding performances. Now onto warmer weather and outdoor track!
