The Lansing Cross Country team attended the Groton Labor Day 5K in force last Monday.  Participating from the varsity team were Josh Barber, Jon Cleveland, Daniel Comisi, Michael Cree, Luke Davis, Yusong Liu, Meghan Mapes, Casey Phlegar, Eddy Potter, Chloe Ryan, Alex Rodgers, Kathryn Shaw, and Shanna Swanson.  From the modified team Emily Rasmussen, Shane Hradisky and Alex Ward joined the fun.  Not only was the team there in quantity they also showed up ready to perform.  Jon Cleveland took 1st place in the field of 139 runners with a time of 17:22, Josh Barber took 1st in male 15-19 age group, and Michael Cree took 2nd in the male 0-14 age group.

The ladies captured 4 of the 6 top slots in the female 15-19 age group.  Kathryn Shaw took the top slot with a time of 21:40, Shanna Swanson place 2nd with a time 22:25, Chloe Ryan took 4th with a time of 23:09 and Casey Phlegar placed 6th with time of 25:54.  Coach Heather Miller also participated and captured the top overall female finisher with a time of 20:41.

Hopefully these results are a sign of things to come and the Cross Country team is looking forward to a promising season.  The teams’ only home meet is Tues. Oct. 6th against Marathon and Moravia.
