espn_120Lansing, NY – 1160 ESPN - WPIE announced their hire of Elmira native and Ithaca College alumnus Nick Karski as Lead Reporter and Play-by- Play Talent. Nick will assume the role in early August upon the departure of incumbent Matt Tymann, who will be attending graduate school this Fall.

“Nick is a talented young broadcaster who brings outstanding passion to our team at 1160 ESPN”, says WPIE Operations Manager Matt Schultz. “His experience with all facets of the job - reporting, play-by-play, and local sports coverage – will be instrumental to our continued growth as an organization and our development into the premier location for local fans to get their Sports Radio fix.”

The former Sports Director at award-winning Ithaca College student radio station WICB, Nick ran the day-to-day operations of the station’s sports department and was in charge of all sports programming. He also spent time reporting for ICTV and worked for NBC Sports during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC. With WPIE, Nick will be broadcasting live high school sporting events throughout the year, voicing local sports reports each weekday, and reporting on events throughout the area.
