wrestlingEven without the services of returning State Champ William Koll, the Lansing wrestling team still fared well at the 2012 Mike Watson Invitational at Watkins Glen this past weekend.

Once again Corey Dake, Connor Lapresi, and Ryan Todd led the way to the Bobcats 9th place finish in the 21 team field. At 126 pounds, Dake had one technical fall and three pins , the last of which came at 5:44 of the third period in the finals versus Austin Bostwick of Waverly. That performance garnered Dake the Most Outstanding Wrestler award for the light weights.

Wrestling at 132 pounds, Lapresi, continued his outstanding junior campaign, capturing the title with two pins, a major decision and a medical forfeit . Todd dominated the 195 pound field, pinning all 3 of his opponents enroute to his championship. Other Bobcat place finishers were Dakota White, who continued his winning ways, placing 3rd at 195, and finally, Greg Lee wrestled his way to a 5th place finish.

Next up for Lansing, is a home meet, Waverly, Wednesday the 18th at 7:00 pm. On Friday the 20th, Lansing finishes its league schedule, against Whitney Point at 4:00 pm at Cornell's Newman Arena. This is the third consecutive year for this dual prior to a Cornell Meet. Cornell will face Harvard that evening. Of course the team will stay and support the Big Red Grapplers and Former Lansing wrestler Kyle Dake.
