ImageIthaca, NY—Marion Cardwell-Ferrer, Executive Chef, Sincredible Pastries , will host a “Thanks For Giving to Kids with Cancer” fundraiser for recently launched pediatric cancer advocacy organization, Mira’s Movement. Funds raised will help Mira’s Movement become a 501c3 organization and assist in launching local and national projects to raise public awareness of pediatric cancer issues.

Cancer is the number one disease killer of children in this country that takes a devastating toll that cancer takes on children and their families. “Thanks For Giving” will feature Marion’s irresistible creations- for immediate consumption and for the Thanksgiving holiday. Apple pies, both Dutch and Double Crust, will be available— frozen— to be fresh-baked on Thanksgiving morning. Only $15 each! Cayuga Lake Creamery will be on site selling pints and cones.

The event will also feature a great raffle for the adults. Gift certificates for self-pampering or holiday gifting will be raffled.   Items include: One Night’s Stay at Candlelight Inn B&B, (including Jacuzzi and breakfast), a one-hour massage from LMT Maria Saccucimorano of Fall Creek Therapeutic Massage, a beautiful piece of jewelry from Mansour Jewelers, gift certificates from Maxie’s, Tiny Jewel Box, Hope’s Way, Heights Café, Terra Rosa, Carriage House Café, and Red Feet Wine Market.

Mira’s Movement was launched in June 2008 by Chris and Christine Brouwer after the death of their daughter Mira from unexpected complications of treatment to prevent the return of brain cancer. The goals of Mira's Movement are to mobilize support for increased federal funding of pediatric cancer and brain tumor research, increase awareness of childhood cancer issues, and provide resources and support for families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis.

Cancer kills more children in the United States than the next five diseases combined. Annually, about 13,000 children are diagnosed with cancer and 22% of those children die. Brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer death in children. More than 50% of children diagnosed with brain tumors will die.
