AthenaHi friends - I'm beautiful Athena, a sweet as can be mixed breed girl who is eagerly awaiting a person to call my own. I'm already house trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date with my vaccines... ready to go home! If you're looking for an intelligent and active side-kick, one who will always be by your side whether it be adventuring through the forest or next to you on the couch, I'm your girl! I enjoy meeting other dogs who are around my size, but my exuberance may be a bit much for small dogs. A cat free home would also be best for me. Children overwhelm me, so teenagers or older would be ideal too. If I sound like the right match for you, come in and say hello today!

  • Beautiful, picturesque
  • Staff whose only goal is that your event run perfectly
  • Able to roll with Ithaca weather

Within reach Back in Ithaca's pre-history – when I was 8 or 9 years old, I would occasionally go to my friend E.J. Miller's house to play. It was a big sprawling farmhouse on a 60 or so acre farm on Danby Rd, past Ithaca College. EJ was a good friend, and it was always a welcome special time with lots of good vibrations and memories.

That big beautiful farm house is now John Thomas Steak House, retaining all the rustic charm of the original – but it smells a lot better.

Glenn Swanson

Lansing Board Of Education member and Glenn Swanson was honored for his 12 years of service Monday at his last board meeting.  Swanson has been instrumental in development and flow through of capital projects, and served several years as Board President.  Current School Board President Christine Iacobucci presented Swanson with some joke gifts, and gave a heartfelt tribute to him.

"Glenn, we've been through a lot together," Iacobucci said.  "We've had our ups and our downs.  What people don't realize is that Glenn has been an incredible board member and colleague and friend.  He invited me, as his Vice President, to go to a training session in Rochester, where we broke bread with each other.  He was very influential "Light Up The Night', a cross country event.  He invited my children to spaghetti dinners at his house.  On a personal level he came all the way out to Cortland Tompkins Community College and gave a lecture to my students from Brazil.  He and (former school board member) Tom Robinson took my students on tour at the Borg-Warner plant."

dearmargaretDear Margaret: I seem to be at a crossroads in my career.  I know what I’m doing in my current job is unfulfilling, but financially rewarding. Another opportunity has opened up for me which I know will be extremely emotionally satisfying, but not as profitable. I know I will eventually make the leap to the new, more gratifying career path, but am having trouble making the transition.  I’ve never been one to avoid change, but for some reason I feel frozen to make a switch. How can I give myself the push to follow through?

PokeyThis lovely multicolored cat is named Pokey. She was surrendered to the SPCA when her previous owner was moving and could no longer care for her. Pokey is an independent cat who is low-key and likes to be pet and take naps. Her favorite thing to play with is an empty box! She also enjoys being brushed. Pokey is not fond of dogs or other cats, so she would prefer to be your only four-legged friend. Do you have a nice comfy home for Pokey to call her own? She has been spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, so she is ready to find her forever adopter. Come visit Pokey today!

wellsAurora, New York—Wells College and Wells President Jonathan Gibralter have signed on to 'We Are Still In,' a national statement in support of the goals and objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement. President Gibralter stands in solidarity with over a thousand leaders in business, government and education in opposition to the Trump Administration's decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Agreement, and in pledging to take local action to end carbon pollution and fight climate change.

'We Are Still In' is the broadest cross section of the American economy ever assembled to work on climate justice. Collectively, its members are stepping up to provide leadership and ensure that our country meets emissions targets specified under the Paris Agreement. The involvement of leaders in education as well as politics, economics and more will provide a balanced, long-term approach.

posticon Stirnemann Earns Wells Alumnae And Alumni Award

wellsAurora, New York—The Wells College Association of Alumnae and Alumni (WCA) has granted the 2017 Alumnae and Alumni Award to Dr. Patricia Danz Stirnemann '67 for her contributions to the field of art history, specifically in the area of medieval French and English illuminated manuscripts. The award was given during a special ceremony as part of Wells' Reunion weekend on Saturday, June 3, in Phipps Auditorium of Macmillan Hall.

Dr. Stirnemann has spent decades as a scholar, researcher, collaborator and supportive influence on the work of countless art historian colleagues and students. Her work centers around the history of illuminated manuscripts and covers the entire Middle Ages from 700 to 1600 A.D., with specific expertise on the 12th and 13th centuries in England and France. By exploring and identifying aspects such as penwork, style, layout and original owner of these documents—which predate the printed book and contain much of our ancient and medieval literature and records—we can better understand world history and the way that knowledge was prepared and preserved.
