Tom Reed announced the Sciencenter Discovery Museum, a hands-on educational center and museum for kids in Ithaca, will receive $381,695 as part of the National Leadership Grants for Museums from the Federal Institution of Museum and Library Services."I care about ensuring families throughout the area have access to educational resources, especially when they help our kids get interested in science at such an early age," said Reed. "It's only fair we provide them with the support they need to continue this service to our community."

Lansing Supervisor Kathy Miller honored Daniel Adinolfi for his volunteer service to the town. Most recently Adinolfi chaired the Water and Sewer Advisory Board before moving to the Boston Area. Miller said at the August Town Board meeting that the Town was honoring Adinolfi with a certificate of appreciation.
Are you looking for a fun-loving, happy as can be puppy? If so, choose me! I'm a lab/something mix and absolutely love playing, cuddling with volunteers, and learning new tricks. I'm an exuberant puppy who came in with very few manners, but the trainers at the shelter are teaching me so many fun things! When I get really excited, I start using my mouth to play with you like I would another puppy, so I don't always think about how sharp my puppy teeth are. Because of this, I need to go to a dog-savvy home without children. I play well with other rough and tumble dogs, and would enjoy having a canine playmate at home. After a good play session, I love nothing more than to cuddle in your lap. If I sound like the perfect package, come in and say hello today!

Thanks to sharp-eyed lake scientist Lisa Cleckner of the Finger Lakes Institute, a Water Chestnut plant was spotted in mid-August floating on Cayuga Lake just south of Canoga Marsh on the lake’s northwest shoreline.
Hello, my name is Waylon, but some people here also call me Turtle! I don't know how I ended up here at the SPCA, but isn't it nice that I get yummy food every day? I'm a nice boy who loves to talk about my day to all of our visitors. I'm also quite playful, and will happily entertain you for hours with my antics. Other felines intimidate me, so if you want to take me home, I'd be happiest as the only cat. I have been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated up-to-date, so if we're the right match, I'm ready to go home with you! Ask an adoption counselor about how to adopt me!
Perhaps you have noticed that there is a new bridge over the stream just to the east of the Scoops Ice Cream shop. This bridge, built by volunteers, is part of the Murdock Spur, a new addition to the Lansing Center Trail system. The Murdock Spur is only 0.2 miles long, but it connects with the Lansing Center Trail. Walkers can choose to cover over 4 miles by taking every option on the Lansing Center Trail, likely enough to walk off at least some of the calories from one of the delicious Scoops ice cream treats. The markers for the Murdock Spur are either yellow posts or ice cream cone blazes.

New Superintendent Takes Challenges in Stride
A robovoice told me calmly but very seriously that my M&T Bank Visa had been used in a suspicious circumstance, and my account had been suspended. It then explained that I should punch my credit card into into the phone to log into my account to reach the Fraud Department to get it restored. My fingers reached for the keypad when I heard a voice in my head that said, don't do that! Hang up! OK, it was my wife's voice -- I had the call on speakerphone. Good advice.
