hangar_fullgallopThree time Tony nominee Dee Hoty makes her Hangar Theatre debut in Full Gallop, an intimate slice-of-life portrait of Vogue editor and American fashion icon Diana Vreeland, who championed "the little black dress", the bikini, and Twiggy. Written by Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson, Full Gallop celebrates the remarkable woman who was the heart of American style for five decades. According to the New York Daily News, "Full Gallop is, as Vreeland herself might have said, divine, divine, divine!" Full Gallop plays August 2-11.

"You gotta have style. It helps you get down the stairs. It helps you get up in the morning. It's a way of life. Without it, you're nobody." Diana Vreeland began as a columnist for Harper's BAZAAR in 1936, eventually becoming the magazine's fashion editor. In 1962, she became the editor-in-chief of Vogue, where she was well known for endorsing what was most fashion forward. Photographer Richard Avedon called her 'the only genius fashion editor.'

In Full Gallop, Vreeland has been fired from Vogue magazine and is throwing a spontaneous dinner party, hoping that a well-heeled friend will bankroll her latest venture. Friends try to persuade her otherwise but, once she decides in which direction her life will move, she advances at 'full gallop.'

Always quotable, Vreeland freely spouted such memorable fashion adages as "Blue jeans are the most beautiful things since the gondola" and "Pink is the navy blue of India."

Starring in this one woman, tour de force role is Dee Hoty. With three Tony Nominations under her belt, Ms. Hoty is one of Broadway's most sought after leading ladies, having appeared in The Will Rogers Follies, Footloose, Mamma Mia!, and City of Angels to name a few.

"We are over the moon that Dee is coming to the Hangar this summer", states Artistic Director Peter Flynn. "She is a remarkable talent and brings with her all the requisite class, intelligence and humor that this incredible role demands. Hangar audiences are in for a wonderfully theatrical event."
