Saddened.  That’s our reaction to the proposal to abolish the Lansing Library.  It seems that the people who want to abolish the library are throwing the baby out with the bath water.  We have read no complaint concerning the library.  The complaint is with taxes.  We suggest that the Lansing community consider the value that the library brings and determine if they are getting their money’s worth.  We expect that once such a review is completed, property owners will agree that the library has served the community well for a mere 12.6 cents per thousand pricetag.

It’s such a small price to pay to be able to borrow books, movies, audio books, read magazines, do research, and find a peaceful place to browse.   The library offers community adult and children’s programs, speakers, meeting rooms, and computer resources.  One can use the wireless access on a personal laptop.  Tompkins County Public Library books can be returned and interlibrary loans processed right here in Lansing – both these options can save valuable gas and money.  It’s economical.

We believe the library proposition to abolish the library should be voted down.  Vote NO on May 19 and Save the library.
