Dear Editor,

This is no time for lockstep, party line voting. Even though we like liberal and minority candidates, we’re voting for Dentes for DA.

The family that's so angry at Wilkinson should be. Wilkinson rightly says every child abuse case requires an investigation. She picked up the Sutton case for DSS while that family was losing a daughter, thanks to an agency run amok. They never properly investigated.

How could Wilkinson represent a DSS that was rushing to judgement without an investigation? And why did she?

Whether she knew of her client’s inexcusable omission or not, she insults her profession, the office she worked for, and the position she so evasively campaigns for. But there's more.

Every mental health professional who has thoroughly reviewed this sad story has concluded that the charges were false, that the child needed treatment, and that the parents should never have been registered as child abusers or lost their jobs and Mr. Sutton’s driver’s license.

In spite of this, Wilkinson swore in deposition that she still believes the child's (recanted) charges. That insults all the mental health professionals involved.

Wilkinson vows to pursue child abuse cases with more vigor as DA. Chilling news. Shades of some of the 80s convictions of innocent daycare providers, thanks to leading questions of children trying to give the "right" answers. God help us.
