The Boy’s golf team will be returning everyone from last year’s team with some new additions this year. The team is comprised of a nice mix of youth and experience. Returning Players:
New Additions:
- Senior – Jess Esposito
- Juniors – Craig Esposito, Austin Moore
- Sophomore – Tim Carlson
- Freshman – Conor Stanhope
- 8th grader – Josh Randall
Season Outlook:
- Junior – Michael Hesford
- Freshman – Zach Myers, Alex Pinney, Jeff Vicedomini
- 8th graders – Spencer Warkentin, Ethan Kutler, Cobi Byrne, Kyle Steiner
The team should be in contention for the sectional and the IAC championship.
Defending sectional and IAC champion Elmira-Notre Dame will be the team to beat. A young, but talented squad from Union Springs should also be in contention. Jess will be looking to qualify for states for the third consecutive year, while his brother Craig will be looking to get back into the tournament after just missing out last year. Junior Austin Moore has the potential to be in the mix to qualify also.
The golf program will also include a girl’s team this year. This is the first time in the school’s history that Lansing will have a full girl’s golf team. Although this is a new experience for all of the girls involved, they have a good work ethic and great attitudes to make this a successful year. The girls will be competing in a handful of matches this year. The team consists of 2 seniors and 3 juniors.
